Jon, they said I should hear back from them today.  However, each time they called in the past it was in the morning.  It's is now 12:45pm, so I not sure.  Could still be today.

Insurance rep called this morning.  Now I have good news. Wink After Hagerty did their "re-evaulation" they decided I was a candidate for collector's insurance.  Based on the claims history of my vette and the condition it is in, they have waived the daily driver having to be less than 20 years old. Huh  They will issue the policy on July 11, which is the date for renewal on my current insurance. Smiley

Jon, what reason did they give you for refusing to write the policy? Huh

That's good news Dale ...looks like you save money & get a fair value for your vet if something bad happens. I'll be raising mine to an agreed value of 60K within the month.

Alan, it sure seemed like it was not going to happen because of the daily driver thing.  Really glad it did finally come together.  Saving the money is great. Wink But the thought that with the old policy, if I had any claim it was going to be based on the car being 33 years old Cry not how much it might be worth, was the biggest concern.

That is great news.  Are they going to let you do a declared value?

Check The Hartford. I believe they insure antique cars for agreed value as well.

As everyone has seen my car, I will tell you that hagerty has been very good to deal with.  I have a check for 19300, (minus the 700 buy back on my 77).  Less then 30 days from my accident I have been paid.  I recieve a check for lost wages at the moment. Minnesota only allows $250 per week max. Yes I had to have a daily driver, but in Minnesota who wants to drive a classic vette through 4 feet of snow?

My agreed value was 20k (was about 200 per year no deductable) which in hindsight I wish I wold have upped it after the upgrades. Well we all learn. I used them last year for glass coverage. Replaced my windshield with PPG glass, I paid for it and got a check for it from Hagerty two days later for the full amount of the work.  They have been great to deal with through my oredeal which I pray no one else has to go through! Drive safe, and I hope to be out on the road soon to meet alot of you!

If your kicking around insurance quotes, call Dave Drake 800-922-4050 x8334. He has helped me throgh everything I needed to do at Hagerty to get paid. (Shameless Plug I know) 7 guys I work with that own collectors have called already and switched over to hagerty due to their treatment of me and my accident and a much cheaper rate then their personal insurance companys would give.

Thats great to hear that Haggerty was so good to you.  I have American Collectors car insurance for about 5 years now and I have not ever had to use them and hopefully never will have to use them.  My policy expires in December and I am thinking about changing to Haggerty.  I only have mine insured for $12K which is by far less than I have into the car.  I am paying $125 a year.

I've got American collectors too $40K on the vette & $15K on the Dodge, 250/500K Liability for $592.00 yr. I have used them once & they paid in 1 week. I will be increasing the value on the vet though to 50-60K.

I finally got insurance with Hagerty after the problems I've mentined above.  It was effective on July 11 of this year.  Hope to never need it.  However, the coverage is better (20K agreed value with limits of 300/500K for liability).  The cost is less than half of what I was paying for the old coverage which was based only on having a 33 year old car.

Heaven forbid, if something had happened, like with Steven, under my old policy I would have gotten only blue book price for a '77 Chevrolet. Cry
