Building a Garage
Feb 8th, 2010 at 10:28pm

Been talking with Mike about his new garage. I have made a few calls and got some quotes and I decided to go with the same company that Mike used.  He is well satisfied with the work they did for him.  Mine will be a three door one and the size will be 30 X 40 with the 3 doors on the 40 side, height will be 10 feet inside. Won't be getting it started until the ground thaws out. Keep you posted when it starts and as it progresses along. The doors will be 8 X 9 's and it will be nice to pull into a garage where I will have more clearance than 3 to 4 inches on each side of the mirrors.

Right now it's a place to park the Vettes and the MGB.  I have them all stored in my cellar except for the 78 that is on my trailer in a building that my neighbor own.  With 3 bays I should be able to store/park the vettes and during the winter get the MG in front of the Vettes or just keep it in the cellar.  I will move my work bench and tools into the garage.

Ed,
Great news, I know you will be happy. This was the best thing I have done since meeting my wife, having children, and buying a corvette. I know they will do a good job. As I say with mine I will use it as a place to park cars and the other garage it for the work. My new garage is very nice I do need to post some updated pictures soon.
Good luck my friend.

Thanks for all the comments, I have been putting this off for a couple of years.  My wife was always saying put up a garage, mainly because her car was outside to make room for the Vettes.  She use to say, I have a garage I could drive in and park in the winters but it has become a storage area.

Mike,  Leon is going to call me when he is in the area and check out the location, talk about the color and what I need to do for prep work.  I have two spots picked out where it could go, I am going to let him pick the better of the two.  The one that will require less work to level. I talked to one dealer then called another and both of them had a Brian answerer.  So at first, I thought I had called the one right back and I didn't but I told the second guy I was talking to the other one and he cut up their business telling me why he was better than them. He was off my list as a potential builder.  Don't like or trust these guys that have to knock the other ones down.  Your guy, Leon was very nice and sent me the prints and paper work needed for the permit and will be driving up to talk. Plus with you using him because your friend did and now me because you did, you can't go wrong when you have word of mouth spreading your business.

Well, we are on our way, I reduced the size to the same size Mike built due to my thinking the 30 X 40 was way more than I needed and I would have to do too much filling in on the property.  So we are going with a 24 X 32 with the 32 in the front with 2 bay doors 8 X 12. One side entry door and two windows.  The excavator was here and due to the rain has to wait but the ground is marked out.  The garage builder was here today and the deal is sealed.  Now we have to wait on the weather.  Will post pic's as things progress.
